Live Your Best Life: Press The Reset Button And Do It Often

Have you ever felt as though your daily life has become monotonous?

Humans are ever-evolving creatures; it is typical for our interests and desires to be fluid and change throughout our lives. The dream you once chased may not represent who you are today. This may indicate that it is time to reinvent yourself and rediscover your enthusiasm for life!

Why would I reinvent myself?

There are many reasons to reinvent your life, below are some:

  1. You feel as though your life is stagnant.
  2. You feel a lack of fulfillment.
  3. Perhaps you feel a career change is necessary.
  4. You have a sense that you never reached your potential or fulfilled your dream.

Finding a fresh start has many benefits, such as an increased sense of purpose, learning and expanding your mind and experiences, increasing your resilience, and boosting your positivity. All these benefits inherently dissolve those feelings of dissatisfaction, leading you to a new version of yourself.

How do I reinvent myself?

Whatever the driving factors, it is easier to make a change than you might think. The most important and extremely necessary first step is connecting with yourself introspectively. Yes, a good, old-fashioned soul search is essential. Looking inward to understand what your desires, values, and goals are will take a lot of honesty and self-reflection.

Self-awareness can be a difficult step for some, but there are many ways to do this. Journaling, by simply writing down your thoughts and feelings to understand them more clearly, is a very good place to start; just let the ink flow as you dump your thoughts onto a page. Try not to judge yourself as you write, as this will impede the process.

Another tactic is meditation. This can be as simple as searching for a guided meditation on YouTube or following a celebrated meditation instructor on the topic of finding your true self. These types of exercises allow one to slow the mind and openly connect within, digging deep to find truth and direction.

The second step will be analyzing your thoughts and realizations to recognize your core values. What matters to you and why? Identifying your values helps guide you along a path that feels authentic since it allows you to be true to the principles that mean the most to you. Some examples of core values could be simplicity, environmentalism, equality, justice, spirituality, prioritizing your family, honesty, kindness, respect, and positivity.

Another step is to identify any changes that need to be made. This may manifest as bad habits that need to be discontinued, a career that no longer fulfills your soul, or even people that you may no longer want to associate with. If something does not serve you by aligning with your values, it can be shaved from your life to help your rebranding.

One of the most important steps is setting specific, realistic, and achievable goals for yourself. This crucial step will provide direction for your new path, give you focus and keep momentum, so you do not get sidetracked or lazy, and help to identify and build on new behaviors to aid in achieving your transformation.

The key to goal setting is not overextending yourself in the first stages. Making attainable goals, possibly even breaking larger goals into smaller, measurable milestones, reduces the likelihood of becoming overwhelmed and giving up altogether. Examples of goals can be identifying a new career, traveling to a location you have been longing to see, or joining a relevant association or club.

Maintaining the path to reinvention

Constructing a plan to achieve a new version of yourself can be intimidating, but the truly difficult part is following through. Setting up support is vital. Tell a close friend of your intentions so they can hold you accountable.

Create visual reminders for yourself, such as post-it notes with encouraging words, and place them where you will see them often. Read motivational books or listen to empowering podcasts that align with your new endeavors. The more reminders that you create, the more likely it is that you will remain consistent and focused on becoming your true self.

There is no reason that you need to be stationary and unhappy while living the life that you used to dream about. The process of revitalizing yourself is a process that can be undertaken any time that you feel stuck in a rut or pothole. Do it often.

While reinventing yourself can seem intimidating at first, acting can be invigorating and will renew your spark for life.
